Louise McKiernan
Director Disability Resource Centre
Board Chair Living Well UK
Louise Mckiernan is Chief Executive of the Disability Resource Centre; one of the leading disability organisations operating in Birmingham, Solihull and the wider West Midlands providing a range of services to disabled people, frail older people, and those with long term health conditions.
This includes not only individuals with mental ill health but also those presenting with poor mental health as a result of their impairment or health condition.
Service provision for people with mental ill health in Birmingham includes:

- Information, advice and advocacy support on such issues as housing, debt, fuel poverty, welfare, safeguarding, independent living and access to statutory and non-statutory services
- Confidential counselling services
- Social, leisure and health promotion activities
- Life skills and personal development training
- Work preparation and employment support
- Help at Home Service supporting people to live independently in their own homes through the provision of domestic support tasks, garden maintenance and handy-person services
Aftab Rahman
Founding Director of Legacy West Midlands
Aftab has worked in the community over the last three decades. His career includes work as a Senior Civil Servant, Director of Charities, and as an Entrepreneur.
Aftab is at ease at grass roots work and at senior strategic levels. He is a heritage, wellbeing and cohesion expert with the ability to engage minority communities in a new and meaningful way. He has developed an excellent track record for raising funds from Lotteries Fund, Public sector, Trusts, Charities and Europe.
His qualifications include a Phil Ed in Youth & Community Work, Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies and MSc in Management & Organisational Development.
Davy Hay
Managing Director of Pattigift
Davy is the Managing Director of Pattigift Therapy CIC, an African centred psychological therapies organisation based in Birmingham. His background is in the field of mental health where he has worked as a mental health nurse in areas such as inpatients, community liaison, elderly, and substance misuse. He has also worked as a mental health lecturer.
Davy holds a degree in Nursing and Mental Health, and a Postgraduate qualification as a Specialist Mental Health Practitioner. Alongside working in the UK, his work as taken him to the Caribbean and Saudi Arabia.
After 25 years, Davy left the NHS to found Pattigift Therapy. He is proud to have created the first (and only) independent mental health hospital focussed on the cultural and psychological needs of African heritage people.
Jointly with a colleague at Pattigift, Davy recieved the Presidents award from the Association of Black Psychologists (USA) in 2016 for “advancing African centred healing internationally”.
Lovemore Masiane
Operations and Clinical Executive at Our Roots CIC
Lovemore’s background is in teaching. He has taught in many schools in various positions of responsibility such as Senior Master, Head of Department, and Deputy Head from 1990 to 2001.
Lovemore believes that ‘humans are adaptable and can always learn and remodel themselves’. In 2001, he moved to the UK and got a job as a Postman. He was surprised by how well he adjusted to this new way of life as it was different from everything that he had known previously.
In 2003, he trained as a Mental Health Nurse. He then applied for a Counselling and Psychotherapy Course in 2008 and, in 2009, branched off and joined the second cohort of Cognitive Behaviour therapists training within the IAPT Model.
Since qualifying in 2010, Lovemore has worked all over England as a CBT Therapist, and Clinical Supervisor.
Richard Hadley
Chartered Accountant
Richard is a Chartered Accountant who spent 16 years at Deloitte, working in both the corporate finance and audit businesses during that time. Whilst at Deloitte Richard worked with a range of public, private and third sector clients.
Richard’s work in the public sector was primarily for NHS organisations. He was the project lead for a number of NHS trusts undergoing foundation trust assessments, involving both financial due diligence and an assessment of governance and controls.
Richard also supported a number of other NHS organisations across the UK that were undertaking transactions.
Richard’s work for private sector clients included being the Deloitte project lead on the listing of a number of Midlands based businesses on AIM. He led the work providing financial due diligence and an assessment of financial controls and reporting procedures ahead of the listing.
Richard recently left Deloitte to pursue opportunities working with third sector organisations. He currently supports a number of organisations in a voluntary capacity and provides financial advice to other social enterprises including the Board of Living Well Consortium.
